The Problem


We partnered with Skullcandy on an ad campaign for their brand new Skullcandy X REALTREE collaboration.

This collaboration consisted of REALTREE patterns on their over-ear CRUSHER ANC 2, and in-ear DIME EVO headphones. We were briefed by Associate Creative Director Adam Deleeuw at Skullcandy's headquarters in Park City, UT and got straight to work.

 
 

Consumer Electronics brands make headphones that are designed to blend in or not say much about the user's personal style.

Consumers are looking for statement pieces, and unique items/accessories that aren't just functional but add to their outfits as well.

Heritage brands and patterns like camo are in fashion and popular among younger consumers. Skullcandy has primarily been known for their connection with "board sports" in the past, but with this collaboration, they were seeking to target young, fashionable, and trend-aligned consumers who are looking to stand out with a unique accessory.

Creative


We were tasked with developing eye-catching copy and design to be used in campaigns across various platforms.

Being the target consumers ourselves we explored various avenues and ideas when looking for winners. We dove deep into ideas such as individuality, camo jokes (camo is invisible, this camo isn't working), fun trends, and more.

We generated a variety of headlines to catch viewers’ attention without directly mentioning the product or its features. After significant work, we had our winners and finished graphics.


Results


Our work was well received by Adam and the Skullcandy team. Our creative was utilized in paid media campaigns across various platforms and outperformed much of Skullcandy's internally created content.

Skullcandy X REALTREE was their top-selling and fastest-selling collab ever, resulting in near-sell-out results.
