The Problem
Distracted driving campaigns don’t distract us enough. The Utah Department of Transportation and BonCom asked us to help fix that. We wanted to make distracted drivers feel socially awkward when they read these ads and urge them to hand their phones over while they drive.
Over 3,500 people are killed in distracted driving accidents every year, we wanted to do our part to reduce these numbers.
Creative
Instead of another “you’ll die if you text and drive” effort, we decided to start with passengers. Use them to make it socially uncool to drive while on your phone – a “Hey, hand me your phone” approach.
We partnered with Zero Fatalities to create an 8 FOOT TALL CELL PHONE crashed into the ground on campus displaying our messages.
We also produced a variety of print and digital ads to be used across campus and on social media.
